Food Recall: Loblaw, Metro & Sobeys Parfaits & Yogurt

Canada/Ottawa: Loblaw Companies Limited., a Bramptom, Ontario establishment, Metro Ontario Inc., an Etobicoke, Ontario establishment, and Sobeys Inc., a Stellarton, Nova Scotia establishment, recall multiple batch/lots of Parfaits and Yogurt Bowls from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

• In Ontario: Superstore, Fortinos, Loblaw, Valu-Mart, Your Independent Grocer and Zehrs
• In Western Canada: Superstore, Your Independent Grocer, Extra Foods and Wholesale Club

Sobeys banner stores include:

• In Atlantic Canada: Coop, Foodland and Sobeys
• In Quebec: IGA, IGA Extra, IGA Express, IGA Mini, Tradition, Bonichoix, Bonisoir, Omni, Voisin and Rachelle-Béry
• In Ontario: Foodland and Sobeys
• In Western Canada: IGA, Safeway, Sobeys and Thrifty Foods

These processed Parfaits and Yogurt Bowls products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Loblaw Companies Limited, Metro Ontario and Sobeys Inc. have recalled multiple batch/lots of Parfaits and Yogurt Bowls.

In this case, this Canadian recall was initiated as a direct result of an earlier recall initiated in the United States by the Quaker Oats Company. The recalled dessert products contain granola and other cereal products recalled by Quaker Oats Canada.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Parfaits and Yogurt Bowls, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
