Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Mead Johnson Nutrition (Canada) Co., a Kanata, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder products from the Canadian marketplace due to possible Cronobacter sakazakii (formally known as Enterobacter sakazakii) contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness including sepsis and meningitis and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Baby Formula products are subject to this recall:

  • Enfamil Branded Nutramigen A+ LGG Hypoallergenic Infant Formula, sold in 561 gram canisters with an item number of 3230626, an expiry date code of 01-JA-2025, a batch/lot designation of 0704376 (ZL3FVY) and a UPC of 0 56796 00498 2
  • Enfamil Branded Nutramigen A+ LGG Hypoallergenic Infant Formula, sold in four (4) by 561 gram canisters with an item number of 3230626, an expiry date code of 01-JA-2025, a batch/lot designation of 0704376 (ZL3FVY) and a UPC of 0 56796 90498 5

==> No NDCs, DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Canadian provinces, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - Canadian Food Inspection Agency ("CFIA")According to the CFIA, Mead Johnson Nutrition (Canada) Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder products from the Canadian marketplace due to possible Cronobacter sakazakii contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Powdered Baby Food products identified above.

==> For information about Cronobacter sakazakii, please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Cronobacter sakazakii.
