Logo - UK Food Standards Agency ("FSA")According to the FSA, Refresco Drinks UK has updated its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Asda and Calypso branded Fruit Drink Box products from the British marketplace to include an additional bulk package offering of the Drinks, indicated in bold in the listings above.

The original recall was initiated due to suspected metal contamination in the accompanying Drinking Straws and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the Drinking Straw that accompanies the recalled Drink Boxes identified above. The Drinks themselves, according to the company, remain safe for consumption.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Asda and/or Calypso branded Fruit Drink Box products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Drink Boxes to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis.
