US/Silver Spring: TGD Cuts, LLC, a Jessup, Maryland establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups, Fruit Clamshells and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe products from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following prepared Fruit products containing Cut Cantaloupe are subject to this recall:

• Cantaloupe Chunks 1″ 50/2-ounce containers, sold with a use-by date code ranging from 11/07/23 and 11/07/23 and a UPC of 840219184845

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These TGD Cuts Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states and regions of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, GD Cuts has recalled certain batch/lots of Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after an expanded recall of Fresh, Whole Cantaloupe Fruit by TruFresh, a primary ingredient supplier to TGD Cuts. Cantaloupes recalled by TruFresh were used as a raw material in TGD Cuts Fruit products identified above and have been linked to a large-scale Salmonella outbreak in North America.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled TGD Cuts Fresh-Cut Fruit Cups and Fruit Trays containing Cantaloupe, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fruit to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
