US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Bix Produce, a Little Canada, Minnesota establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Grab N’ Go Cut Cantaloupe and Mixed Fruit Cups from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cut Cantaloupe and Mixed Fruit Cups are subject to this recall:

  • Created Fresh! branded Cantaloupe Fruit Cups – Grab N’ Go, sold in 5.75-ounce containers with an item number of 19703 and a sell-by dates of10/25/2023 and 10/26/2023
  • Created Fresh! branded Mixed Fruit Cups – Grab N’ Go, sold in 5.75-ounce containers with an item number of 19721 and a sell-by dates of10/25/2023 and 10/26/2023
  • Jack & Olive branded Mixed Fruit Cups – J&O, sold in 5.75-ounce containers with an item number of 23355 and a sell-by dates of10/25/2023 and 10/26/2023

==> No barcodes, UPCs, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Created Fresh! branded Cantaloupe Fruit Cups and Jack & Olive branded Mixed Fruit Cups were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Bix Produce as recalled certain batch/lots of Grab N’ Go Cut Cantaloupe and Mixed Fruit Cups from the American marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Mixed Fruit products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after a primary ingredient supplier notified Bix Produce that the Cantaloupe Fruit supplied consisted of Malachita Cantaloupes, a product that is subject to a North American recall due to suspected Salmonella contamination.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Grab N’ Go Cut Cantaloupe and Mixed Fruit Cups, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Fruit to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
