Food Recall: Fresh Start Fresh Cantaloupe

Canada/Ottawa: Fresh Start Foods, a Milton, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fresh Start Foods branded Fresh Cantaloupe Fruit products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cantaloupe products are subject to this recall:

• Fresh Start Foods branded Cantaloupe, sold in 3-count packages with a Julian date code 296, 297, 298, 299, 300, 301, 303 and 304 and a UPC of 6 20868 12079 7

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Save on Foods Cantaloupe products that contain Cantaloupe were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces and territories of Alberta and British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Fresh Start Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Fresh Start Foods branded Cantaloupe products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruit products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fresh Start Foods Fresh Cantaloupe products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
