US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Health Alert against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Pruski’s Market and Hooser Custom Meats branded Beef and Turkey Jerky from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Jerky products were thought to have been produced on or about September 21, 2023 through November 9, 2023 and are subject to this warning:

  • Pruski’s Market branded Spicy Beef Jerky, sold in 1.75-ounce, 2.75-ounce and 8-ounce packages with a sell-by date ranging from 03/21/24 through 05/09/24
  • Pruski’s Market branded Beef Jerky, sold in 1.75-ounce, 2.75-ounce and 8-ounce packages with a sell-by date ranging from 03/21/24 through 05/09/24
  • Pruski’s Market branded Turkey Jerky, sold in 1.75-ounce, 2.75-ounce and 8-ounce packages with a sell-by date ranging from 03/21/24 through 05/09/24
  • Hooser Custom Meats branded Beef Jerky Mesquite Smoked, sold in 3-ounce packages with a sell-by date of 04/23/24
  • Unbranded Beef Jerky Regular, Spicy Beef Jerky or Turkey Jerky purchased in variable weight portions at the retail counter with a packed-on date ranging from 9/21/23 through 11/9/23

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this warning notification.

These Pruski’s Market branded Beef and Turkey Jerky products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US state of Texas, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the Soup identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these affected Pruski’s Market and Hooser Custom Meats branded Beef and Turkey Jerky products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy products and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Please note: while these Beef and Turkey Jerky products may be close to or past their use-by dates or no longer being offered for retail sale, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products being the dates listed above, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.
