Food Recall: Save on Food, Urban Fare Cantaloupe, Mixes

Canada/Ottawa: Pattison Food Group, a Lethbridge, Alberta establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Save on Foods and Urban Fare branded Cantaloupe and Fruit Mix products that contain Cantaloupe from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cantaloupe products are subject to this recall:

• Save on Foods branded Cantaloupes, sold in 322 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 19494
• Save on Foods branded Fruit Salads, sold in 310 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 67741
• Save on Foods branded Fruit Trays, 12 inches, sold in single-count units; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/09 with a PLU of 24376
• Save on Foods branded Fruit Trays, 10 inches, sold in single-count units; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/09 with a PLU of 51246
• Save on Foods branded Fruit Trays with Dip, sold in single-count units; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/09 with a PLU of 22424
• Urban Fare branded Fruit Platters – small, sold in 500 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 39341
• Urban Fare branded Fruit Platter – regular, sold in single-count units; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 8936
• Urban Fare branded Half Cantaloupes with Fruit, sold in 750 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 64868
• Urban Fare branded Fruit Platter – large, sold in single-count units; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 8937
• Urban Fare branded Fruit Salads, sold in variable size containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 74687
• Urban Fare branded Cantaloupe Chunks, sold in variable size containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 16136
• Urban Fare branded Fruit Platters – large, sold in 1.1 kilogram containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 76971
• Urban Fare branded Mixed Melon Chunks, sold in variable size containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/06 with a PLU of 79542
• Urban Fare branded Blueberry Melon Blast Smoothies, sold in 1 unit (~16 ounce) containers; affected batch/lots: all products with best-before date codes up to and including 2023/NO/04 with a PLU of 48432

==> No barcodes, UPCs, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Save on Foods and Urban Fare Cantaloupe and Fruit Mix products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces and territories of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Yukon, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Pattison Food Group has recalled certain batch/lots of Save on Foods and Urban Fare Cantaloupe and Fruit Mix products that contain Cantaloupe from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination . As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruit products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Save on Foods and Urban Fare Cantaloupe and Fruit Mix products that contain Cantaloupe, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
