US FlagUCanada FlagS/Bethesda & Canada/Ottawa: IKEA US Retail LLC, a Virginia establishment and IKEA Canada Ltd Partnership, a Burlington, Ontario establishment, recall an estimated 25,100 IKEA branded LETTAN Mirrors (approximately 14,600 in the US and approximately 10,500 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of falls, laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all current sizes of Flat Wall Mirrors, as follows:

The recalled Mirrors are frameless, about 38 inches high and were sold in 23, 31, 39 and 47 inches wide. LETTAN Mirrors affected by this recall for repair now include:

  • All LETTAN Mirrors with a date stamp before and including 2105 (YYWW)
  • LETTAN Mirrors with supplier number 21944 and a date stamp before and including 2325 (YYWW).

The date stamp can be found in (YYWW) format where the first two digits represent the year, and the last two digits represent the week of manufacture. The date stamp is located on the back of the mirror.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - The US Consumer Product Safety CommissionAccording to the CPSC, IKEA US Retail LLC and IKEA Canada Ltd Partnership have recalled an estimated 25,100 IKEA branded LETTAN Mirrors from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to suspected component detachment.

In this case, IKEA reports that the Plastic Fittings that attach the Mirror to the wall can break, causing the Mirror to fall, posing a laceration hazard to homeowners and those nearby.

As of press time, the company has received no incidents or reports of injury. Globally, however, the company has received fifty-five (55) reports of Mirrors falling due to what appear to be breaking Wall Fittings. Minor property damage and one (1) minor injury have been reported.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled IKEA branded LETTAN Mirrors, please contact IKEA to order a free set of replacement Wall Fittings and instructions. Alternatively, customers can return the mirror to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (i.e., a receipt) is not required to receive a full refund..

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
