Canada/Ottawa: Hong Dao Business Development Ltd., a Delta, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Shrimp Paste products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg and Soy, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Shrimp Paste products are subject to this recall:

  • Hong Dao Shrimp Paste, sold in 150 gram squeeze bags with an expiry date of 2023/12/20 and a UPC of 841899007479

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Shrimp Paste products can be found on the Web site above.

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Hong Dao Shrimp Paste products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Hong Dao Shrimp Paste and could be allergic to their Egg and/or Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
