US/Silver Spring: Grandy Organics, a Hiram, Maine establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Coconut, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Honey Oat Granola products are subject to this recall

• Grandy Organic branded Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola, sold in 25-pound bulk cases containing two (2) – 12.5-pound bags of Cereal with a batch/lot of lot code 231017-03459-1 and a UPC of 648960034590
• Grandy Organics branded Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola, sold in three (3)-pound retail bags, with a batch/lot of lot code 231017-03459-1

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Grandy Organic branded Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of CA, MI, MN, NJ and NY, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Grandy Organics has recalled certain batch/lots of Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Coconut. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Honey Oat Granola products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Grandy Organics discovered that the Cereal product contains Coconut but was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Coconut.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Grandy Organic branded Gluten Free Honey Oat Granola and could be allergic to their Coconut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
