Food Recall: Yuxiang Aquatic Oyster & Shrimp Balls

Canada/Ottawa: Hong Dao Business Development Ltd., a Delta, British Columbia establishment, updates its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Yuxiang Aquatic branded Oyster Ball Seafood products from the Canadian marketplace to include additional items, additional undeclared allergens and updated product information.

The original recall was initiated due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risks of undeclared Egg, Gluten and Milk, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Seafood products are subject to this recall:

• Yuxiang Aquatic branded Oyster Balls, sold in 200 gram vacuum packages with a production date of 2023/02/22 (i.e., February 22, 2023) and a UPC of 841899007424. Reported allergens: Egg, Gluten, Milk and Soy
  
• Yuxiang Aquatic branded Shrimp Balls, sold in 200 gram vacuum packages with a production date of 2022/12/21 (i.e., December 21, 2022) and a UPC of 841899007431. Reported allergens: Egg, Milk and Soy.
• Yuxiang Aquatic branded Shrimp Balls with Cheese, sold in 200 gram vacuum packages with a production date of 2022/12/21 (i.e., December 21, 2022) and a UPC of 841899007448. Reported allergens: Fish.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Yuxiang Aquatic branded Oyster and Shrimp Ball Seafood products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Hong Dao Business Development has recalled certain batch/lots of Yuxiang Aquatic branded Oyster and Shrimp Ball Seafood products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential risks of undeclared Egg, Gluten and Milk. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated by Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Yuxiang Aquatic branded Oyster Ball and/or Shrimp Seafood products and could be allergic to their Egg, Fish, Gluten, Milk and/or Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
