US FlagUS/Washington: Capitology, LLC, .a Charlotte, North Carolina establishment and the Importer of Record recalls an estimated 4,679 pounds of Rica Sula Tajaditas con Chicharron Platanos Pork Chicharron products that were imported from Honduras, a country ineligible to export Pork products to the United States, with consequential risks of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Pork Rind Snack products were imported from Honduras and are subject to this recall:

  • Rica Sula Tajaditas con Chicharron Platanos con Chicharron Pork Chicharrones, sold in 5.3-ounce foil pouch packages with a UPC of 7702189057624

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and wholesale presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Pork products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered during a routine FSIS surveillance activity of imported products. Honduras is not eligible to export Meat products to the United States.

The products do not bear an establishment number nor a USDA mark of inspection. These items are thought to have been shipped to retail and restaurant establishments in the US states of Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pork Rind Snack products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings including Clostridium botulinum, Escherichia coli (“E.coli”), Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella or Staphylococcus contamination.
