US FlagUS/Washington: Aunt Kitty’s Foods Inc., a Vineland, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 15,728 pounds of canned ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Hanover Soup Classics Chicken Pot Pie products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken Pot Pie products are subject to this recall:

  • Aunt Kitty’s Foods Hanover Soup Classics Chicken Pot Pies, sold in 15-ounce metal cans with a batch/lot code of P864 4893 23241950 and a best-by date code of SEP 2026

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Hanover Soup Classics Chicken Pot Pies were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken Pot Pie products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the establishment notified USDA’s Food Safely Inspection Service (“FSIS”) that it conducted an inventory review and realized it had used Chicken containing Soy as an ingredient in this product, yet Soy was not declared on the product label.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Aunt Kitty’s Foods Hanover Soup Classics Chicken Pot Pie products and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the retailer where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
