US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Greenhead Lobster Products, a Bucksport, Maine establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Frozen and Refrigerated Cooked Lobster Meat products produced on dates ranging from May 9, 2023, to October 19, 2023 from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cooked Lobster Seafood are subject to this recall:

The recalled Greenhead Lobster branded Fresh Cooked Lobster Meat was sold frozen or refrigerated in packages ranging from one (1) to two (2) pounds or in bulk cases up to twelve (12) pounds and can be identified with best-if-used-by dates ranging from May 9, 2025 to October 12, 2025 for frozen Lobster products, and May 27, 2023 to October 30, 2023 for refrigerated product.

  • Frozen 1 pound Cooked CK Meat – Greenhead Lobster Frozen Cooked Claw and Knuckle Meat GHL-CK
  • Frozen Broken Cooked Meat – Frozen Cooked Broken Lobster Meat
  • Frozen CK Cooked Meat – two (2) Greenhead Lobster Frozen Cooked Claw and Knuckle Meat GHL-CK
  • Frozen Tail Cooked Meat – Frozen Cooked Lobster Tail Meat GHL-TAIL
  • Frozen TCK Cooked Meat – HPP Frozen Cooked Tail, Claw, and Knuckle Meat GHL-TCK

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Fresh Cooked Lobster Meat products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, both through retail and online sales, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Greenhead Lobster Products has recalled all current batch/lots of Frozen and Refrigerated Cooked Lobster Meat products produced on the above indicated dates from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Lobster products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the presence of the Listeria monocytogenes was found in the processing environment. As of press time, however, none of the actual Lobster Meat products had tested positive for the Listeria bacteria.

Please note: while these Greenhead Cooked Lobster Meat products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products at any time between May to October, 2023, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cooked Lobster Meat, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Seafood products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
