US FlagUS/Washington: Don Miguel Foods, a Dallas, Texas establishment, recalls an estimated 10,642 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Carne Asada Burrito products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following burrito products are subject to this recall:

  • Don Miguel Hand Made Carne Asada Burritos, sold in seven (7)-ounce individual brown waxed paper packages with a date code of D23270 and an establishment number of EST. 20049 found printed inside the USDA mark of inspection

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These burrito products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Burrito identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Don Miguel Hand Made Carne Asada Burritos, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Listeriosis
