US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, warns against the consumption of certain batch/lots of Kirkland Signature Applewood Smoked Master Carve Half Ham Boneless with Natural Juices from the American marketplace suspected due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risks of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Smoked Pork products were thought to have been produced on or about September 25, 2023 and are subject to this Public Health Alert:

  • Kirkland Signature Applewood Smoked Master Carve Half Ham Boneless with Natural Juices, sold in four (4)-pound average weight vacuum-packed clear plastic packages with a use/freeze-by date code of Jan 20 24 and a batch/lot designation of 264–4.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Smoked Pork products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of California and Nevada, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smoked Pork products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the affected Kirkland Signature Applewood Smoked Master Carve Half Ham products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

In this case, this warning was issued after the establishment’s laboratory testing indicated the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The establishment notified FSIS that some of the affected product was distributed into the retail channel and purchased by consumers.

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ pantries or refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
