US/Silver Spring: The Cookie Factory, doing business as Maverick Ventures, LLC, a Troy, New York establishment, recalls an estimated 2,367 packages of Stewart’s branded Chocolate Chip Cookies from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Macadamia Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Chocolate Chip Cookies are subject to this recall:

• Stewart’s branded Chocolate Chip Cookies, sold in six (6)-ounce clear plastic clamshell containers with a best-before date of 10/13/23 (i.e., October 13, 2023) printed on the sticker that secures the package.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Stewart’s branded Chocolate Chip Cookies were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of New York and Vermont, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, The Cookie Factory has recalled an estimated 2,367 packages of Stewart’s branded Chocolate Chip Cookies from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Macadamia Nuts. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Baked Goods identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after a customer who purchased a package of Stewart’s Chocolate Chip Cookies noticed a substance that was later identified as a Macadamia Nut.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Stewart’s branded Chocolate Chip Cookies and could be allergic to their Macadamia Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
