Vehicle Recall: Chrysler Ram 1500, 2500 & 3500 Pickups

US/Washington: As of Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of nineteen (19) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the nineteen (19) recalls the NHTSA announced in October comes news of the following:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 272,911 model year 2022-2023 Chrysler Ram 1500, Chrysler Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with GVWR less than 10,000 pounds and 2022-2024 Chrysler Ram 2500 Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Rearview Image may not display in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V654000 reports the Radio Software may prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

According to the NHTSA, a Rearview Camera that does not display an image reduces the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Chrysler Dealers will will update the Radio Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 17, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-853-1403 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. FCA US, LLC’s designation for this recall is 97A.
