Drug Recall: Kula Can Pina Colada Energy Drinks

US/Silver Spring: Kula Brands LLC, a Miami, Florida establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Kula Can – Pina Colada + Kratom Seltzer flavor from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Coconut and Milk, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Energy Drinks are subject to this recall:

• Kula Can – Pina Colada + Kratom Seltzer flavor, sold in 12-ounce cans with a batch/lot number of U17831532PNCL and a UPC of 371334085880

Please consult the photograph above for details of the beverage’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Kula Can Energy Drinks may have been marketed, distributed and sold US nationwide, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the FDA, Kula Brands has recalled certain batch/lots of Kula Can – Pina Colada + Kratom Seltzer flavor from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Coconut and Milk. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Energy Drinks identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after it was suspected that the Energy Drinks containing Coconut and Milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Milk and Tree Nuts (Coconut).

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Kula Can – Pina Colada + Kratom Seltzer Energy Drinks and could be allergic to their Milk and/or Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
