Vehicle Recall: Volkswagen Jetta Sedans

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls certain model year 2019 and 2020 Volkswagen Jetta Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Volkswagen Jetta Sedans with a Key Ignition Switch, a Fuse in the Ignition Switch could fail.

If this defect occurs, it could cause the vehicle can lose power while driving and cause the Engine to stall. In addition, the same defect could cause the vehicle’s Airbag System and Turn Signals to malfunction.

A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash. An airbag system that doesn’t work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Volkswagen will notify affected vehicle owners by mail to advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to modify the Ignition Switch.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage, internal injuries burns, scalds, explosive blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Volkswagen will notify affected vehicle owners by mail to advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to inspect the Door Handles and replace them if necessary. The Dealer will also update the vehicle Software.
