Among the forty-three (43) recalls the NHTSA announced in September comes news of the following:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC),Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 6,298 model year 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and Gladiator Pickup Trucks equipped with a manual transmission marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Disabled Reverse Lights and Camera in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111 & 108

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V641000 reports the Rearview Camera may fail to display the rearview image and the Reverse Lights may not illuminate when the vehicle is placed in REVERSE. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, “Rear Visibility” and 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment”.

According to the NHTSA, a disabled rearview image can decrease the driver’s visibility of the rear view, and disabled Reverse Lights may not alert others that the vehicle is reversing, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
