Among the fifty (50) recalls the European Union announced in its fourth report of September 2023, the following recall notification was made:

Extasia Goldy branded Prestige for Women Eau de Parfum Natural Spray for Women products, sold with an EAN/barcode of 5425017734420. This recall alert was submitted by Hungary to the EU Gateway under alert number A12/02256/23.

These Extasia Goldy branded Prestige for Women Eau de Parfum Natural Spray for Women products were marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade fragrances intended for home application. The recalled cosmetic products were produced in Belgium and sold in 100 ml gold colored bottles with the brand, Extasia, appearing as embossed type near the top of the bottle. The recalled Perfume is retail packaged in black cardboard boxes with matching gold printing.

No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The hazards identified in the Extasia Goldy Prestige for Women Perfume products include the reported finding that the recalled cleansing and fragrance products contain 2-(4-tert- butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde (“BMHCA”), a chemical that is forbidden in Cosmetic Products within the European Marketplace.

According to the European Union, the chemical 2-(4-tert- butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde (“BMHCA”) poses risks of harm to the reproductive system and the health of the unborn child as well as causing skin sensitisation when used in a reasonable manner expected and consistent with their intended design and anticipated use and therefore, could precipitate serious injury and/or life-changing health consequences.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Extasia Goldy branded Prestige for Women Eau de Parfum Natural Spray for Women products reportedly do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Consequently, a ban on the marketing and/or sales of this product and a withdrawal recall has been ordered in all European member countries. If encountered, you should not use, market, sell or use the recalled cosmetics.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Extasia Goldy branded Prestige for Women Eau de Parfum Natural Spray for Women products, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly contact the store from which you purchased the product for a refund.
