Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 11,853 model year 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Trailer Hitches – Front Tow Eye may detach during towing

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V629000 reports the Front Tow Eye may be inadequately threaded to the Crossmember and can detach during towing.

According to the NHTSA, a detached Tow Eye can separate the vehicle from the Tow Truck, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Mercedes-Benz USA Dealers will inspect and replace the Front Crossmember, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 10, 2023.
