US/Washington: Buffalo Games LLC, a Buffalo, New York establishment, recalls an estimated 52,000 Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits from the American marketplace due to suspected small part ingestion hazards with consequential risks of choking, oral injury, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all current batch/lots of Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

• Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits, sold at Target Stores with a UPC of 079346627035 and consisting of a purple “lunch box” type container with a light blue handle with the following items:
  • Two (2) ounces of Jumbo Water Beads
  • Six (6) ounces of Regular Water Beads
  • Five (5) small Toy Fish
  • A scissor-style Scoop
  • Plastic Tweezers
  • A plastic Scoop with a handle,
  • Ten (10) activity cards and use instructions

==> No item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, Buffalo Games LLC has recalled an estimated 52,000 Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits from the American marketplace due to suspected small part ingestion hazards to children who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and possible use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after it was reported that if a Water Bead is ingested, it can expand and can cause choking, oral injury, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

To date, Buffalo Games has received one (1) report of a 10-month-old child’s death from swallowing the recalled Water Beads in July 2023 in Wisconsin. Buffalo Games has also received a report that a 9-month-old child was seriously injured in November 2022 in Maine from swallowing the Water Beads that reportedly caused an intestinal obstruction requiring surgery to remove it.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Chuckle & Roar Ultimate Water Beads Activity Kits, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near then. Instead, kindly contact Buffalo Games for a full refund and instructions on how to return the product in a pre-paid mailing package supplied by the firm or return the product to any Target retail store.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction/perforation and/or sepsis.
