Logo - Health CanadaAccording to Health Canada, IKEA Canada has expanded a previous recall for various IKEA LETTAN Wall Mirrors from the Canadian marketplace to include all models and sizes of Mirrors with a date stamp before and including 2105 (in “YYWW” format) as well as all LETTAN mirror sizes with an IKEA supplier number of 21944 and a date stamp before and including 2325 (in “YYWW” format).

The original recall was initiated due to suspected component detachment and consequential risks of falls, laceration, traumatic brain injury (“TBI” or “concussion”), bone fractures and/or central nervous system (“CNS”) injury.

In this case, IKEA has identified that some of the plastic fittings used to attach the Mirror to the wall, appear to be breaking. If this defect occurs, it could lead to the Mirrors unexpectedly falling, and posing risks of serious injury.

As of January 10, 2023, the company has received no incidents or reports of injury in Canada. Globally, however, the company has received fifty-five (55) reports of Mirrors falling due to what appear to be breaking wall fittings. Minor property damage and one (1) minor injury have been reported.
