Food Recall: Funbel OLA-OLA Authentic Pounded Yam Vegetable

UK/London: Funbel Ventures Ltd., a Broxbourne, Hertfordshire establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of OLA-OLA Authentic Pounded Yam products from the British marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk and Sulphites (Sulfites), both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Pounded Yam products are subject to recall:

• OLA-OLA Authentic Pounded Yam, sold in 907 gram, 1.8 kilogram and 4.5 kilogram bags; selected batch/lots: all current batch/lot codes with a Best-before dates beginning in 2020

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled foods can be found on the Web site above.

According to the FSA, Funbel Ventures has recalled all current batch/lots of OLA-OLA Authentic Pounded Yam products from the British marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk and Sulphites (Sulfites). As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pounded Yam products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled OLA-OLA Authentic Pounded Yam products and could be allergic to their Milk and/or Sulphite (Sulfite) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
