Food Recall: Arctic Ocean Peeled Shrimp

Canada/Ottawa: Arctic Ocean International Trade, a Scarborough, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Peeled Shrimp, size 41-50, from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulphites (Sulfites), a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious health and safety hazard requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Peeled Shrimp products are subject to this recall:

• Arctic Ocean Peeled Shrimp, sold in 33.6-pound containers of 41-50 size shrimp, with a production date of 14/04/2023 (i.e., April 14, 2023) and an expiry date of 13/04/2025 (i.e., April 13, 2025)

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Arctic Ocean Peeled Shrimp were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian province of Ontario, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Arctic Ocean International Trade has recalled certain batch/lots of Peeled Shrimp, size 41-50, from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Sulphites (Sulfites). As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled seafood products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Arctic Ocean Peeled Shrimp products and could be allergic to their Sulphite (Sulfite) ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
