Food Recall: Avoca Pasta, Soup, Spreads & Baked Goods

UK/London: Avoca, a Wicklow, Ireland establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of various Pasta, Soup, Spreads and Baked Goods products from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic and metal fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Pasta, Soup, Spreads and Baked Goods products are subject to recall (in alphabetical order):

• Avoca Hummus, sold in 180 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Banana Bread Cakes; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 25th August 2023
• Basil Pesto, sold in 157 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Beef Lasagne Large, sold in 600 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Beef Lasagne Small, sold in 300 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Carrot & Parsnip Mash, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 26th August 2023
• Carrot, Coconut, Coriander Soup, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Chicken & Broccoli Small, sold in 400 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Chicken & Broccoli, sold in 700 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Chicken Liver Pate Loaf, sold in 750 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 26th August 2023
• Chicken, Ham & Leek Crumble, sold in 700 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 28th August 2023
• Duck Liver Pate with Armagnac & Prunes, sold in 300 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Fish Pie Large, sold in 720 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 28th August 2023
• Fish Pie Small, sold in 360 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Fresh Sundried Tomato Pesto, sold in 160 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 6th September 2023
• Indian Chicken Curry, sold in 600 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Italian Meatballs, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 31st August 2023
• Kalamata Olive Tapenade, sold in 140 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 10th September 2023
• Mac & Cheese, sold in 650 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Malaysian Chicken Satay, Snap Pea & Cashew, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Roasted Pepper & Harissa Hummus, sold in 180 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Root Vegetable Soup, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Slow Roasted Tomato Basil Soup, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 29th August 2023
• Sweet & Sticky BBQ Sauce, sold in 300 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 15th September 2023
• Thai Green Chicken Curry, sold in 580 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Vegetable Lasagne, sold in 700 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 27th August 2023
• Vegetable Tikka Masala, sold in 600 gram containers; affected batch/lots: all use-by dates up to and including 31st August 2023

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Avoca has recalled certain batch/lots of Avoca Pasta, Soup, Spreads & Baked Goods. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled food products identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Avoca Pasta, Soup, Spreads and/or Baked Goods, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the items to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis.
