Food Warning: ShopRite Chicken Noodle Soup

US/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Health Warning against the consumption certain batch/lots of ShopRite branded Chicken Noodle Soup products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Chicken Noodle Soup products were manufactured on or about produced on August 8, 2023 and are subject to this recall:

• Shoprite branded Bowl & Basket Chicken Noodle Soup, sold in 20-ounce plastic cups with a use-by date of 09/23/23 (i.e. September 23, 2023)

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Chicken Noodle Soup products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of New Jersey and New York, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, its Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) has issued a Public Health Warning against consuming certain batch/lots of ShopRite branded Chicken Noodle Soup products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Milk.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the establishment notified FSIS that a retail store employee who was stocking refrigerated store shelves found Soups labeled as Chicken Noodle and Italian-style Wedding Soup in the same shipping box. The retailer reported the issue to the producing establishment. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled ShopRite branded Chicken Noodle Soup products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Shoprite branded Bowl & Basket Chicken Noodle Soup products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
