US FlagUS/Washington: The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”), a statutory regulatory and food safety authority, issues a Public Health Warning against consuming recalls certain batch/lots of Wegmans Jamaican Jerk-Style, Raw, Marinated Chicken products from the American marketplace due to undeclared Milk, Soy and Wheat, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Jamaican Jerk Chicken products are subject to this recall:

  • Wegmans Jamaican Jerk-Style Chicken Thighs, sold in 1-pound vacuum-packed plastic packages with a use-by date of 9/6/23
  • Wegmans Jamaican Jerk-Style Chicken Breast Cutlets, sold in 1-pound vacuum-packed plastic packages with a use-by date of 9/6/23

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Jamaican Jerk Chicken products can be found on the Web site above.

These Jamaican Jerk Chicken products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

The products subject to the public health alert bear the establishment number “EST. P-7567” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

In this case, this Public Health Warning was issued when the establishment notified FSIS that it identified an equipment malfunction that may have led to potential cross-contamination with Milk, Soy and Wheat, known allergens, which are not declared on the product labels.

As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these Wegmans Jamaican Jerk-Style, Raw, Marinated Chicken products and could be allergic to their Milk, Soy and/or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the retailer where you purchased it for a full refund.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
