Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety safety authority, recalls certain 2020 and 2021 Porsche 911 Carrera, Taycan and Taycan Turbo Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.
On the affected Porsche Sports Sedans, the Seat Belt Reminder Chime may not sound to alert you that the Front Passenger Seat Belt isn’t buckled. If this defect occurs, the Side Curtain Airbags may not inflate properly in a crash situation.
Canadian regulations require both a Seat Belt Reminder Sound and visual tell-tale when you switch the vehicle on, and the passenger isn’t wearing his or her Seat Belt. In the event of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event, an un-belted occupant could suffer serious and/or life-changing injuries.
==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage, internal injuries burns, scalds, explosive blast injury, smoke inhalation and/or respiratory and/or cardiac injury.
==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
Proposed Remedy:
Porsche Canada will notify affected Porsche 911 Carrera, Taycan and Taycan Turbo Sedans owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to an authorized dealership to reprogram the Instrument Cluster Software.
No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
