Product Recall: Saxco International Carboy Glass Jugs

US/Bethesda: Saxco International, LLC, a Fairfield, California establishment, recalls an estimated 8,370 Carboys from the American marketplace due to suspected glass breakage and consequential risks of structural failure, laceration, eye injury and/or bone fracture, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Carboys, glass jugs used for holding and transporting various liquids, including beer, wine, cider and mead, marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

• Carboys, glass jugs used for holding and transporting various liquids, including beer, wine, cider and mead made by consumers in their homes. The recalled Carboys were sold in three-, five-, six- and six-point-five-gallon sizes with the Saxco logo on the bottom of each Carboy. The Carboys were sold individually or in TrueBrew or HCS Equipment Kits (for five- and six-gallon Carboys).

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the glass can break due to improper cooling processes during production. If this defect occurs, it poses risks of life-changing laceration, eye injury and/or bone fracture injuries to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Saxco International received thirty (30) reports of incidents of the recalled Carboy’s glass breaking. As of press time, no injuries had been reported.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Carboys, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please ensure you use thick gloves and sturdy safety glasses when you wrap and/or move the Carboys in a blanket or place them in protective box.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat laceration, eye injury and/or bone fractures.
