Among the thirty-four (34) recalls the European Union announced in its second report of August 2023, the following recall notification was made:

Product Recall: EU Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner

Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner products, sold with a batch/lot of model number of 17889822 and an EAN/barcode of 7908124400320. This recall alert was submitted by Lithuania to the EU Gateway under alert number A12/01806/23.

The Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner products were marketed, sold and delivered as consumer-grade hair treatments intended for home application to clean and condition one’s hair during a shower or bath. The recalled cosmetic products were produced in Brazil and sold in a two (2) bottle set with one white-colored bottle of 500 grams and a smaller companion bottle of 250 ml and packed in a matching white, blue and gray presentation box with black and reverse type.

No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, batch/lot designations, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

The hazards identified in the Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner include the reported finding that the recalled cosmetics contain the chemical Pyrithione Zinc, a fungistatic and bacteriostatic formulation of Zinc and an ingredient that is forbidden in European cosmetic products.

According to the European Union, Pyrithione Zinc poses risks of harm to the reproductive system and the health of the unborn child. In addition, Pyrithione Zinc can possibly cause long-term damage to DNA if swallowed or absorbed through the skin over time.

As a result, utilizing the recalled Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner products in a reasonable manner expected and consistent with their intended design and anticipated use could precipitate serious injury and/or life-changing health consequences.

Proposed Remedy:
Due to these defects, the recalled Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner reportedly do not comply with the requirements of Europe’s Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Consequently, a ban on the marketing and/or sales of this product and a withdrawal recall has been ordered in all European member countries. If encountered, you should not market, sell or use the recalled cosmetics.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Inoar branded Argan Infusion Hair Shampoo and Conditioner products, please do not use them nor let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly contact the store from which you purchased the product for a refund.
