Among the forty-seven (47) recalls the NHTSA has announced in August comes news of the following:

Logo - Daimler Trucks North America LLCDaimler Trucks North America LLC (“DTNA”), a Portland, Oregon establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 1,280 model year 2023 Freightliner M2, FCCC MT 55G Walk in Van Chassis, FCCC S2C-106 Conventional Cab & Chassis, FCCC MC Chassis, and Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner C2 Commercial Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Driveshaft may break

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V537000 reports the Driveshafts in the recalled vehicles can break under certain loading conditions.

According to the NHTSA, a broken Driveshaft can separate and cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Daimler Trucks Dealers will replace the Driveshafts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 30, 2023. Owners may contact DTNA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-547-0712 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”) for more information. DTNA’s designation for this recall is FL980.
