US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Frito-Lay, a Plano, Texas establishment and subsidiary of PepsiCo Inc. of Purchase, New York, recalls certain batch/lots of Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Soy and Wheat, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Tortilla Chips are subject to this recall:

  • Frito-Lay Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips, sold in 1-ounce (~28.3 gram) bags with a “guaranteed fresh date” (i.e., best-before date) of 26 Sept 2023, a manufacturing code of 465218034, a time stamp within the range of X 22:47 to 22:54 and a UPC of 0 28400 09089 6
  • Frito-Lay Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips, sold in 14.5-ounce (~411 gram) bags with a “guaranteed fresh date” (i.e., best-before date) of 26 Sept 2023, a manufacturing code of 465218037 with a time stamp within the range of X 22:47 to 22:59 or manufacturing code of 465218137 with a time stamp within the range of X 23:00 – 23:06 and a UPC of 0 28400 51779 9

==> No item numbers, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Frito-Lay Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US state of Pennsylvania from retail stores, foodservice locations and vending machines as early as June 29, 2023, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Snack Foods identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after certain batch/lots of Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips may have been packaged with another of the company’s product, specifically, Spicy Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips, a snack food that contains both Soy and Wheat ingredients.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Frito-Lay Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips and could be allergic to their Soy and/or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
