UK FlagUK/London: Tesco PLC (“Tesco”), a Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Tesco branded British Cooking Salt from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Cooking Salt products are subject to recall:

  • Tesco British Cooking Salt, sold in white 1.5 kilogram packages with a batch/lot code of 3200

==> No barcodes, EANs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Logo - UK Food Standards Agency ("FSA")According to the FSA, Tesco PLC has recalled certain batch/lots of Tesco branded British Cooking Salt from the British marketplace due to suspected plastic fragment contamination. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Spices identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tesco branded British Cooking Salt, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Spices to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat hoking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and sepsis.
