Product Recall: Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers

US/Bethesda: Electrolux Home Products Inc., a Charlotte, North Carolina establishment, recalls an estimated 13,600 Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers from the American marketplace due to suspected Dryer Seal failure and consequential risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and cardiac system collapse, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves all Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers with model numbers FFLG4033QW and FFLG4033QT marketed, sold and delivered in the United States, as follows:

• Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers, sold with a model number of FFLG4033QW and FFLG4033QT in either white and titanium (i.e., black – shown) and have the brand, “Frigidaire” written below the Dryer Door. The serial number can be found on a white sticker inside the Dryer Door, and the following serial numbers are included in this recall:
  • Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers with a model number of FFLG4033QWX and serial numbers ranging from 4E44114739 through 4E81603034
  • Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers with a model number of FFLG4033QTX and serial numbers ranging from 4E44308482 through 4E81603380

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Felt Seal on the Dryer Drum can be folded inward and can lead to lint accumulation. If this defect occurs, it can pose consequential risks of fire, burns, scalds, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and cardiac system collapse to people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Electrolux Group received twenty-three (23) reports of fire and one (1) report of a smoke inhalation injury.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers, please do not use them. Instead, please contact Electrolux Group for a free inspection, repair and lint removal service. The Electrolux Group is contacting known purchasers directly. The company reports you can continue to use the Washer component of this Gas Laundry Centers because it is reportedly unaffected by the issue.
