Logo - Polaris Industries Inc. ("Polaris")Polaris Industries Inc. (“Polaris”), a Medina, Minnesota establishment, has recalled an estimated 22,218 model year 2020 Polaris Slingshot GT, 2021-2023 Slingshot S, Slingshot S Tech, 2020-2023 Slingshot R, Slingshot SL and 2022-2023 Slingshot SLR Three-Wheeled Motorcycles updated with Ride Command Software marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Back Over Prevention – Rearview Camera Image May Not Display in apparent contravention of US FMVSS 111

NHTSA Safety Notification 23V466000 reports after shifting out of REVERSE, the Rearview Camera image may freeze and display a blank screen if shifted into REVERSE again. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility”.

According to the NHTSA, the loss of the Rearview Camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver’s rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.
