US/Washington: Nuevo Garcia Foods, LLC, a San Antonio, Texas establishment, recalls an estimated 4,784 pounds of H-E-B Smokehouse branded Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork products with BBQ Sauce from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Smoked Pulled Pork products are subject to this recall:

• H-E-B Smokehouse branded Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce, sold in two (2)-pound packages with a batch/lot code of 3135 and a best-by dates 8/18/2023, 8/25/2023 or 9/1/2023.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Smoked Pulled Pork products can be found on the Web site above.

These H-E-B Smokehouse branded Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork products with BBQ Sauce were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US state of Texas, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the USDA, Nuevo Garcia Foods has recalled an estimated 4,784 pounds of H-E-B Smokehouse branded Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork products with BBQ Sauce from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Soy. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Smoked Pulled Pork products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled H-E-B Smokehouse branded Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce products and could be allergic to their Soy ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
