Food Recall: Dan-D Pak Raw Macadamia Nuts

Canada/Ottawa: Dan-D Foods Ltd., a Richmond, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Dan-D Pak branded Raw Macadamia Nuts from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risks of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Packaged Raw Nuts are subject to this recall:

• Dan-D Pak branded Raw Macadamia Nuts, sold in 100 gram cello plastic pouches with a production date code of 2023.FE.14 (i.e., February 14, 2023), a best-before date code of 2024.FE.14 (i.e., February 14, 2024) with a UPC of 7 70795 52260 4

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Packaged Raw Nuts can be found on the Web site above.

==> No item numbers, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Dan-D Pak branded Raw Macadamia Nuts were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the CFIA, Dan-D Foods Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of Dan-D Pak branded Raw Macadamia Nuts from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Packaged Raw Nuts identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after Canadian Food Inspection Agency test results determined the above batch/lot may be contaminated with Salmonella.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dan-D Pak branded Raw Macadamia Nuts, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonellosis.
