US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Ziyad Brothers Importing, a Cicero, Illinois establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Ziyad branded Jameed Soup Starter Mix products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Soup Starter Mix products are subject to this recall:

  • Ziyad branded Jameed Soup Starter Mixes, sold in a 35.2 fluid ounce Tetra Pak container with a UPC of 0 74265 00597 1

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Soup Starter Mix products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all US states, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - US Food and Drug Administration ("FDA")According to the FDA, Ziyad Brothers Importing has recalled all current batch/lots of Ziyad branded Jameed Soup Starter Mix products from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Milk. As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Soup Mix products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after it was discovered during a routine internal company review that the product was distributed in packaging that disclosed the presence of “lactic casein powder” in the ingredient list but it did not further clarify that this ingredient is derived from Milk.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Ziyad branded Jameed Soup Starter Mixes and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
