US FlagUS/Washington: Perdue Premium Meat Company, Inc., doing business as Alexander & Hornung, a St. Clair Shores, Michigan establishment, recalls an estimated 3,204 pounds of fully cooked Brookside branded Fully Cooked Natural Casing Beef Wieners from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Fully Cooked Natural Casing Beef Wieners are subject to this recall:

  • Brookside branded Fully Cooked Natural Casing Beef Wieners, sold in 2-pound vacuum-sealed packages with a batch/lot code of 3121, a case code of 07658 and a sell-by date of 8/1/23.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Natural Casing Beef Wieners were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US state of Ohio, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

Logo - The United States Department of Agriculture ("USDA")According to the USDA, Perdue Premium Meat Company, Inc., doing business as Alexander & Hornung has recalled an estimated 3,204 pounds of fully cooked Brookside branded Fully Cooked Natural Casing Beef Wieners. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Beef Wieners identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after it was reported the the establishment notified FSIS that one of its customers reported receiving product labeled as Beef Wieners in cartons labeled as Hot Smoked Sausage. The vacuum-sealed packages labeled as Beef Wieners were then found to contain Smoked Sausages.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Brookside branded Fully Cooked Natural Casing Beef Wiener products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
