Product Recall: Bissell Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaners

Australia/Canberra: Bissell Homecare, Inc., a Mulgrave, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Bissell branded Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaners from the Australian marketplace due to suspected overheating and fire with consequential risks of burns, smoke inhalation, respiratory failure and/or cardiac system collapse, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following consumer grade Vacuum Cleaner Appliances are subject to this recall:

• Bissell branded Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaners, sold with a model number 2588F or 2582H, an electrical approval designation of SAA-202692-EA, product codes of 2582H: 011120251418 2588F and a barcode/APN of 011120251425

==> No manufacturing date codes, production dates, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaners were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states, although it is always possible these household appliances products had wider distribution outside the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Bissell Homecare has recalled certain batch/lots of Bissell branded Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaners from the Australian marketplace due to suspected overheating and fire. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the recalled Appliances identified above.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Bissell branded Cordless Wet Dry Vacuum Floor Cleaners, please do not use them. Instead, kindly remove the product from the charging base, unplug the base, and register your details at https://bissell.com.au/pages/recall to receive a replacement.

Owners will be sent a pre-paid Australia Post label by e-mail to return the Handle from their recalled model to Bissell for verification. A new product will then be sent to you as a replacement.

Owners should responsibly dispose of their recalled model. You can contact your local council about e-waste disposal services for products containing batteries in your area, or visit https://recyclingnearyou.com.au/.

Consumers should not put Battery or Electrical Products in their household recycling or waste bins. Rechargeable Batteries and Lithium-Ion Batteries are hazardous and may start a fire in garbage trucks or recycling facilities.
