Among the thirty (30) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLCMercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 19,968 model year 2019-2022 Mercedes-Benz CLS450 Coupe and Mercedes-Benz AMG E53 Sedans, 2019-2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLS53 Coupe, and 2021-2022 Mercedes-Benz E450 Sedans marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System – Disabled safety features from insecure 12V Battery

NHTSA Safety Notification 22V733000 reports the 12-Volt Battery in the Trunk may not be properly secured, which, in the event of a crash, can cause electrical connection failure, disabling various safety features including, Emergency Call (eCall) System, Electric Seat adjustment, Hazard Warning Lights, and Automatic Door Locks.

According to the NHTSA, the inability to operate the vehicle’s safety features (eCall System, Hazard Lights, Electric Seats, or Automatic Door Locks) can increase the risk of injury during a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Mercedes-Benz Dealers will secure the 12V battery, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 29, 2022. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
