Product Recall: Country Road Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs

Australia/Canberra: Country Road Group Pty Ltd., a Burnley Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs from the Australian marketplace due to suspected in-use, structural failure and consequential risks of laceration, ingestion, burns, scalds, respiratory arrest and cardiac system collapse, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Ceramic Mugs are subject to this recall:

• Country Road Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs, sold in the following colour/styles with a unique product code:
  • Sapphire, sold with a Country Road product code of 60292978-4075
  • Bermuda, sold with a Country Road product code of 60292978-7689
  • Lilac, sold with a Country Road product code of 60292978-569
  • Dark Olive, sold with a Country Road product code of 60292978-185

==> No barcodes, APNs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Country Road Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states, although it is always possible these crockery products had wider distribution outside the country including over the Web. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Country Road has recalled certain batch/lots of Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs from the Australian marketplace due to suspected in-use, structural failure. As a direct result of this suspected defect, you should not use the recalled Crockery products identified above as they may pose a risks to the safety of people who utilize the product in a reasonable manner expected with its intended design and anticipated use.

In this case, this recall was initiated after it was reported that due to a manufacturing defect, the Mugs may break unexpectedly and have their base detach when hot liquid is poured into them.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Country Road Ceramic Two-Tone Demm Mugs, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund or a replacement Mug of a different design.
