Product Recall: Romper & Co Rattles and Teether Rings

Australia/Canberra: Romper & Co., a Melbourne, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Romper & Co Rattles and Teether Ring Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for Children up to and including 36 months of age’ and consequential risks of choking, oral injury, ingestion, GI tract laceration damage and bowel obstruction, all serious health and safety hazards requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-changing injury.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Baby Teethers and Rattle Toys are subject to this recall:

• Romper & Co Rattles and Teether Ring Toys, sold in the following form factor/styles:
• Romper & Co Wooden Hand Bell Rattles consisting of wooden circular shaker toys with metal bells
• Romper & Co Handmade Rattles consisting of rattles made from rattan
• Romper & Co Beaded Teethers consisting of circular teething rings with silicone beads attached
• Romper & Co Teether Bracelets consisting of silicone bracelets with silicone and timber beads, available in neutral and sage colours.

==> No barcodes, APNs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Romper & Co Baby Teethers and Rattle Toys are thought to have been marketed, distributed and sold in all Australian states, although it is always possible these Toy products had wider distribution outside the country, particularly over the Web. When in doubt, please contact the company for specific product information.

According to the ACCC, Romper & Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Romper & Co. Baby Teethers and Rattle Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to comply with the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for Children up to and including 36 months of age’.

Due to this reported defect, small objects could find their way into a young child’s throat and pose choking and/or suffocation hazards and, if placed in the mouth and/or swallowed, pose serious risks of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion, GI tract laceration damage, bowel obstruction and death.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Romper & Co Baby Teethers and/or Rattle Toys , please do not use them nor let your children play with or near them. Instead, kindly contact Romper & Co. to arrange a refund and for product disposal instructions.
