Vehicle Recall: Ford Bronco SUVs & Maverick Pickups

Canada/Ottawa: Transport Canada, an Ottawa, Ontario regulatory and safety authority, recalls an estimated 55,656 model year 2021 2022, 2023 and 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”) and 2022 Ford Maverick Pickup Trucks marketed, sold and delivered in Canada.

On certain Ford vehicles, the Powertrain Control Module (“PCM”) and Body Control Module (“BCM”) may not detect a change in the charge level of the 12 volt battery. As a result, the Engine could stall or fail to restart after a start-stop event. In addition, this reported defect could cause the vehicle’s Hazard Lights to malfunction or become inoperative.

Transport Canada reports a sudden loss of power to the Wheels or a vehicle that doesn’t restart after a start-stop event could increase the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results. Additionally, Hazard Lamps that fail to work could make the vehicle less visible and increase the risk of a crash.

==> No VINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Proposed Remedy:
Ford Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to an Authorized Dealership to update the PCM and BCM Software.
