US FlagUS/Silver Spring: County Road Seafood, LLC., a Belhaven, North Calolina establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of County Road Seafood Crab Cakes from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention to minimize pain and suffering as well as prevent life-altering injury or death.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Processed Seafood products are subject to this recall:

  • County Road Seafood Crab Cakes, sold in two (2) pack, four (4) ounce vacuum-sealed plastic packages and thought to have been distributed between August 26, 2022 to May 9, 2024.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

These Processed Seafood products were known to be marketed, distributed and sold in the US states of North Carolina and South Carolina, although it is always possible these food products had wider distribution within the country. When in doubt, please contact the manufacturer for specific product information.

As a result of this reported defect, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood products identified above.

In this case, this recall was initiated after the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services notified the product does not list Egg on the ingredients label. The product reportedly contains Mayonnaise, a food product made from Eggs, and utilizes Whole Eggs as a binder.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

Proposed Remedy:
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled County Road Seafood Crab Cakes and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
