Vehicle Recall: Ford Maverick, Ford Escape & Lincoln Corsair

US/Washington: As of Friday, May 17, 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), a division of the US Department of Transportation, has posted a total of forty-seven (47) vehicle, tire, accessory or other automotive-related product recalls this month. Among the forty-seven (47) recalls the NHTSA announced in May comes news of the following notification:

Ford Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 8,727 model year 2022-2024 Ford Maverick Pickup Trucks, 2020-2022 Ford Escape Sport Utility Vehicles (“SUVs”), and 2021-2022 Lincoln Corsair SUVs marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Software error may cause loss of drive power

NHTSA Safety Notification 24V330000 reports the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (“HPCM”) Software may cause the vehicle to shift into NEUTRAL unexpectedly, causing a loss of drive power.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash, motor vehicle collision (“MVC”) or other impact event with consequential serious injury and/or life-changing results.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat lacerations, concussions, bone fractures, amputation, central nervous system (“CNS”) damage and/or internal injuries.

Proposed Remedy:
Authorized Ford Dealers will update the HPCM Software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 23, 2024.

Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) for more information. Ford’s designation for this recall is 24S33.
